IOPtima to Implement the First 10 IOPtiMateTM Systems for Treatment of Glaucoma in India's Leading Medical Centers

Ramat Gan, Israel, February 1th, 2009- IOPtima the Israeli based Bio-Light group (TASE: BOLT) announces that after attending their first commercial conference in India where they exhibited, in conjunction with the Indian Care Group, their innovative OT-135 laser based system, known also as IOPtiMate^TM, for the non invasive filtration treatment of Glaucoma, they received orders for the placement of the first 10 systems in leading ophthalmic centers in India..

According to leading ophthalmologists in India, the cost of medicated treatment can range from $200 to $300 dollars per year, an amount that most the population in India cannot afford. Whereas, alternative penetrating surgery has many serious side effects and therefore this is also considered not to be a preferred solution for patients.

IOPtima and "Care Group unveiled the novel system during the "All India Ophthalmological Society Conference" were over 6,000 ophthalmologists from India attended. The conference attendees were able to view films of actual procedures and were given the ability to dry train with the system.

The IOPtima business model is based upon a Pay-Per-Procedure system whereby for every surgery utilizing the IOPtiMate a disposable "smart card" is placed in the system. The cost of each surgery with the IOPtiMate system is priced at the equivalent cost of one year of Glaucoma medication.

It is estimated that during its first year of implementation, each system is expected to perform approximately 300 surgeries and by the second year of implementation double the number of procedures performed.

The procedure via the IOPtiMate^TM offers a novel CO₂ laser based system which enables the performance of a swift simplified, efficient and cost effective filtration procedure for the alleviation of Intra Ocular Pressure. The IOPtiMate ^TM is a breakthrough technology which enables practitioners to provide a safe and efficient long term solution to relieve excessive intra ocular pressure which is the primary cause of damage to the optic nerve in glaucoma patients, and is expected to compete as the preferred first line of glaucoma treatment.
